If you saw my home tour over at Blissful and Domestic,
you may have caught a glimpse of this beauty...
a light fixture I bought second-hand locally...
which brings me to this next picture...
My aim this weekend is to DE-brass my old set of Living Room Lamps.
{my DREAM lamps are those from Irvin's Country Tinware,
with the punched tin lamp shades...}
I'd like to make them look a little more like the
small lamp pictured below I purchased at the dollar store for $7.
Lamp shade included.
Here's to hoping the rains, and the humidity, will let up,
at least long enough for me to do what I love best...
SPRAY PAINT!
But if not, I do have a couple of sewing projects that
NEED to be finished.
Happy Friday, Y'all!

Christine, I simply drool over their beautiful items ;)
DeleteCan't wait to see how your lamp comes out!!
ReplyDeleteHey Cherry! thanks for stopping by... it rained so it'll have to wait till things are dry round these parts.
DeleteHope you have some fun with your lamps this weekend! Love the new find!
ReplyDeletethanks Lois - I was tickled when I saw and knew I had to have it :)
DeleteI too have brass lamps that need a new look. Do you thing spray paint will stay on the brass ok without chipping.
ReplyDeleteA blogger suggested a vinegar wash then a touch of sanding. I think I'll add a coat of primer just to be on the safe side. Hopefully the sun will shine and clear up the wetness. We're on a hill top and have water standing in the front yard :o
DeleteIt's feeling Fallish here. I'm sure they'll look good when you can paint.
ReplyDeleteI will be interested in seeing your lamps when you are finished. I have a brass candle holder that I am planning on painting . . . I've never painted over brass before. Do you have any tips?
ReplyDeleteThank you for the sweet comment that you left on my blog. Those cowgirl boots get wore a lot . . . It is fun to dress western when I perform. We have been having a huge heat wave (along with most of America) and next week we have a three hour performance at our local county fair. I'll be drinking a lot of water during our breaks, LOL. I'm happy that you like the room re-do. I love walking in there now and just looking around. It's nice to have a change.
Have a great week, Connie :)
The tips I've received have been a wash of vinegar, a very light sanding; then I'll do a coat of primer, then the dark spray paint - keep your fingers crossed ;) It rained here and I had a wammy of a migraine. Perhaps Mother Nature will cooperate this week...
DeleteHi JoAnn! Thanks for stopping by my blog...now I get to visit yours! I think we have a lot in common. One thing for sure: I love to spray paint! I'm waiting patiently for the weather to clear up so I can finish some projects too.
ReplyDeleteHi JoAnn, I finally made it over to your blog. Your home look beautiful! I look forward to reading more.
