Turn old advertising magnets into pretty
refrigerator frames with light weight craft foam!
We have a few of these old advertising magnets on our
fridge. Most unsightly, but I didn't want to toss them out.
Grab some craft foam, which is practically weightless.
Position your magnet, giving yourself plenty
of room for the "frame" and for trimming.
Trace the outside of your magnet, for positioning the
magnet later. Then trace an inside section,
which is the opening for your photo. Cut out this section.
Using either a glue stick or regular white glue,
trace around the edge of the magnet,
remembering to leave one side UN-glued,
this is where you will insert your photo.
Set the magnet, glue side down, onto your frame,
lining it up with your first set of drawn lines.
I didn't have a glue stick, so I had to set
an old book on top to keep it flat and to allow
time for the glue to dry.
Slide in your photo :)
I found some old fancy trim scissors
and trimmed around the edges.
This is a picture of our Boxer Bulldog, Sugar,
from about 16 years ago. We loved her so much, and
she loved our kids and was so protective.
She was part of our family and we will always miss her.
Since bulldogs were bred to round up bulls / cattle,
I thought it appropriate to place Sugar
on our fridge next to our daughter, Stephanie's
Bull photo, taken on a trip while in Spain.
Happy Tuesday, Y'all!

That's such a neat idea. I still miss Sugar so much. Jorge knows all about her. :)
ReplyDeleteI know, she was one of a kind ;)
DeleteLOVE your idea to reuse old frig magnets!! Loved seeing your puppy you miss.
ReplyDeleteAnd there's so many things kids (that can use scissors) could do - add glitter, cute stickers, you name it. Thanks so much for stopping by to comment!
DeleteYour puppy is adorable--I'm very sorry she's only around in your hearts and minds. I love this idea--going to add this to my list of stuff to make! I'm a new follower :)

DeleteGreat idea.... This would be an awesome kid friendly decorating project too. I'm thinking maybe add a little clip and make a cute spot to switch out different drawings/school papers.
